Crash costly for Jack after surge into top six at season finale.

Jack has had an early end to his 2018 season, crashing out of the final Grand Prix of the year at Valencia on Sunday afternoon in wet conditions.

Starting from 10th on the grid on a track soaked by incessant rain, Jack made a poor start with excessive wheelspin and dropped to 19th at the first corner.

The Alma Pramac Ducati rider made a quick recovery, getting back to 10th by the end of the opening lap, and he passed Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) on lap three to claim seventh.

After overtaking Rossi’s teammate Maverick Vinales on lap four with the rain worsening, Jack crashed at Turn 3 on the next lap, his fifth fall of the weekend.

The race, which was red-flagged on lap 15 after 11 riders fell and was later re-started over 14 laps, was won by Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso.

Jack finishes the 2018 season with 91 points and in 13th place in the championship.

He’ll get his first taste of the 2019 Ducati at the Valencia post-race test on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
